Remember last month's PMS and the tiramisu? Well, this month Boss gave me 2 slices of cake (choc mousse and blackforest) from Secret Recipe. So lovely of him. I have a GREAT Boss!

I'm very excited to say that I've now got a flat screen monitor. A Philips 15" grey and silver thingamajic. Dun bother asking me what the other technical specs are- i have no clue! But I do know that aesthetically, its a thing of beauty. Am so happy.

Saw Irreversible last night and it was very disturbing. Totally deserved that R(A) rating. Only mature minds should see it. My sense of denial has been going into overdrive, trying to wipe away all the rough bits of the show. So now I'm only focusing on the 'artistic' bits. So in summary, "Irreversible"= artistic French movie with liberal doses of violence and sex.

I'm looking for a desk calendar for my office. If you have a spare one, or spot a good one in the shops, please let me know. I need something remotely corporate, so no weird cartoony ones. An art or landscape themed calendar would be great. But I haven't seen any promising prospects. Any ideas?

Happy Holidays everyone! Enjoy the long weekend!

Huayi has lost her handphone to a pickpocket!

She's now bought a new HP, but has lost her contact list. So do message her whatever numbers you think will be useful. Oh, don't forget to identify yourself first.

Happy Chinese New Year!

"The woman turned and went slowly into the house. As she passed the doors she turned and looked back. Grave and thoughtful was her glance, as she looked upon the king with cool pity in her eyes.

Very fair was her face, and her long hair was like a river of gold. Slender and tall she was in her white robe girt with silver; but strong she seemed and stern as steel, a daughter of kings. Thus He for the first time in the full light of day beheld Her, Lady of _, and thought her fair, fair and cold, like a morning of pale spring that is not yet come to womanhood. And she now was suddenly aware of him: tall heir of kings, wise with many winters, greycloaked, hiding a power that yet she felt.

For a moment still as stone she stood, then turning swiftly she was gone."

Whoa! Such heat in so few words!
Maybe it's just me, but I think this is a really powerful paragraph. You can just see the sparks flying between these two people.

Just for fun, chocolates to whoever can guess what this extract is. Except for Len, because I know he knows exactly where it comes from, who wrote it and when it was written. (And possibly even knows what came before and what comes after...) Len is amazing beyond description.

EDIT
13th January, 5.10pm. Len has sms-ed me the publication, volume, chapter, title and also named the people being described above (with the correct spelling). And he said he remembered it from his last reading in 2001, didn't even need to check first to be sure. Told ya he was amazing!

okay 3 things...

1) What time is it now?

2) Poor larling Shan is Iraq!!! How come?!? Leonard being Ireland is very apt and I like to praise myself and think that I'm UN-ish, but Shan as I-R-A-Q? That's just bizzare...

3) Sufang and I are so similar its freaky. VERY VERY freaky! One small example: we often get the same results in quizzes. This doesnt happen with my other friends and me, ONLY Sufang... (to be continued)

You're
the United Nations!

Most people think you're ineffective, but you are trying to
completely save the world from itself, so there's always going to be a long
way to go.  You're always the one trying to get friends to talk to each
other, enemies to talk to each other, anyone who can to just talk instead of
beating each other about the head and torso.  Sometimes it works and sometimes
it doesn't, and you get very schizophrenic as a result.  But your heart
is in the right place, and sometimes also in New York.
